Education is at the heart of Susan McDonald's professional experience - whether connecting with Baccalaureate nursing students she teaches at PA College, or in her own studies towards her Doctorate in Nursing Practice Program. This is also evident in her ongoing work in Haiti; first as a care giver, and now as a nurse educator.
Susan has volunteered at various Haitian healthcare facilities such as Partners in Development, L'Hopital Bernard Mevs, and currently Hopital Adventiste. Throughout these hospitals Susan has accomplished a variety of feats including:
Susan has been a critical care nurse for 25 years, with additional experience in emergency department, flight, and forensic nursing. Passionate about the power of nursing education, she appreciates your ongoing support of her year-round fundraising and program development efforts for this essential work in Haiti.

- Establishing a sustainable educational program that trains staff to use IV pumps
- Developing criteria to determine patients as primary candidates for pumps
- Implementing a new triage system in the Emergency Department
- Training hospital and university students basic and advanced life support practices
- Putting together a hospital's first code cart and practice with a newly developed code team
